Legal measures you can take in Perú and in your own country. PDF Print E-mail

While travelling in Perú or in other country, it could happen, that hotels, restaurants or travel agencies are not working according the rates, rules or services you already booked.

If you're still in Perú here's some usefull information on how to set up a legal process. if you're back at home you still have the chance to manage this by the internet. They've been very gentle and collaborative with us to track the companies which on the long term would ruin the tourism in Perú.

LEGAL COMPLAINING IN PERU:

If you feel, that you have to complain about any service provider while beeing in Perú, you will only invest 15 minutes for it:

The governmental consumer association is INDECOPI - all Tourist Information Offices will give you the address - Indecopi is available in all bigger cities.

You can also check in their website: http://www.indecopi.gob.pe or call the Toll-Free number 0800 - 440 40.

Once arriving there, it will be very easy to file your complaint - bring your passport and all documents concerning it. Indecopi will set up a legal process against the service provider (agent, hotel, restaurant, etc) you are reporting. If you want to do it via email, here the address of the Indecopi office at the international airport in Lima  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. LEGAL COMPLAINING IN EUROPE / USA:

In case that you are already in your country of origin, it will be more difficult, but not impossible to set up a legal process. If you live in the European Union, there is a Consumer Affairs Center and you have to address the office at your country of origin: http://ec.europa.eu/consumers

In this case you can only inform about companies operating from any European country and not Peruvian companies. PERU-PLANET.NET is operating (legally or not) from Belgium.

If your service provider is operation from the USA check the governmental site of the Bureau of Consumer Protection: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov  there is a Complaint Assistant form also available in Spanish.

Considering that there are many travellers wasting time and energy having bad experiences with service providers, it is worth to spend some minutes during or after the holiday and to make a report.
